In my photography, I pursue the complex interplay of identities and their profound impact on our lives. I explore the nuanced narratives of Blackness and the profound power of self-expression. I hope that you see my growing interest in fine art photography as well.
Blackness is not merely a pigment of skin, but a rich tapestry of history, culture, resilience, and creativity. Through my art, I aim to celebrate the diversity within the Black community, challenge stereotypes, and honor the strength born from adversity. Blackness is beauty, pride, and a source of inspiration that fuels my work.
Self-Expression is one of the biggest sources of inspirations within my photography. My photos are an extension of my creative eye. My self-expression within my artwork is also an authentic and vunerable release for me. I picked up photography during a tough time. After I graduated from college, I suffered from post-grad depression. I was lost and hopeless. But I claim all the time that photography saved my life. Every picture on my portfolio represents a period in my life or a thought that swirled through my head at the moment.
My fine art allows me to showcase my individuality and express myself during a time where life seemed dull and boring. It allows me to be my authentic self and display blackness in a way that I best see.
